Game 3 of the Season

I think we all have to admit that our Thunderbolts are improving. I am very happy at our players performance which translated into 2 goals for the team. Danny rocked the house as he scored the 2 goals for his team. It is clear that practice is paying off big time and we MUST continue to practice in order to keep up our momentum. Our team created much more opportunities than ever to score and this is exactly what they must continue to do as a team. I saw much better passing and this is something we are working on during our practices.

Congratulations to our Thunderbolts!!!!

Game 2 of the Season

As we concluded game two of the season, I could clearly see that we have improved from our previous game. One thing that I do admire in our players, is that even though we lost and they were not happy about it, they accepted it and are looking forward to the next game. No one like to lose, its not fun, but if there is a lesson to be learned from this experience is that it does strike a raw cord in our players and I strongly believe that our practices will become more focused and efficient which will translate into better players and games.

A big congratulations to John Michael for scoring the last goal of the game in the last seconds of the game. Way to go John Micheal!!!

I also want to thank the dads that helped out this past week at our practice. It's a great help and perhaps we can continue this to split the players into smaller groups for our soccer drills.

Thanks, Coach Fig.

Parking for Soccer Games

Here is a message all Coaches received from Maria Jacquemin of Pinecrest Premier:

Coaches,

It is very important that you let all your families know not to park in the lawns of the neighbors across from the school on any side of the school. The faculty parking lot holds at least 100 cars and there is parking all around the school on the school side.

There will be NO PARKING  signs placed in the yards on the east side of the school. Anyone removing the signs to park there will be ticketed and towed and anyone who parks in someones lawn will be ticketed and towed.

Please be aware of this we wouldn't want anyone towed.

Thank you,
Maria

Please try to get there early enough to account for parking time. As we all saw from our first game that parking is no picnic at this school. Thank you.

First Game of the Season

Our first official team picture of the season with the mighty Thunderbolts. The players played there hearts out today and even though it did not go our way, Daniel scored the last goal in the last minutes of the game. Way to go Daniel!! All players played great and I was very happy to see that our drills are coming together. Every practice is important and with every game we learn something new and better ourselves. Well, here is our first picture and we will have many more:

From left to right: Assistant Drill Coach Victoria, Michael, Daniel, Ryan, John Michael, Nikolas, Stephen, Joey, James and me Coach Fig in the background.

Practice Information

Hello Thunderbolts!

I received a notice that we can begin practice at other fields within the Pinecrest area, but I feel that where we are at the moment is the best place to continue our bi-weekly practices. If we go to another field there will be other teams that we will have to compete for time and space, not to mention much more distractions as well. So as a reminder, our practices are Monday's and Wednesday's at Coral Pine Park from 5pm to 6pm.

Please please make sure all the boys brings their soccer ball, Zmackit shoe cover and most importantly, please make sure the boys bring a bottle of water to all of the practice sessions. I would prefer to have the boys drink water where we are rather than have to chase then back from the water fountain which is away from our practice field.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Thunderbolts second practice

Well, today was our second practice until the official season starts next month. Two things that we have going for us is first, the players all are getting along and having fun with each other, and second, we seem to have already players geared for offense and defense. Also, we had a democratic vote on the teams name and Thunderbolt was the winner 4 to 3. You can imagine the 3 were not too happy but they accepted it, I think or hope so.

Our goal here is to practice our drills, strength and condition the team. All this will sharpen their skills and allow them to perform better and hopefully win games. The most important things is that they all have fun and enjoy the game. They will improve at their own individual pace so we will just have fun in the process and enjoy the ride.

If there is any comments or suggestion, please post into the blog as it's all our blog.  Please follow the Thunderbolts blog as I will try to update as we move along and this might be the best way to inform everyone on our progress.

Go Thunderbolts!!
